Framing
The photo does half the work, the frame does the other. Be thoughtful about how you frame your piece.
This framing guide, specifically for JPG JO STUDIOS prints, describes the print product types (rolled vs. mounted), walks through the basics of framing, and provides links for recommended frames for each print type and size. No need to dig online to find a frame that works best for your JPG JO STUDIOS piece - we already did the work for you.
Framing Rolled Prints
Rolled prints are printed on archival-quality paper, and are rolled along their length (think “hot dog style”). Rolled prints are especially intended to be framed. Think of a rolled print like a poster - you could hang it up on it’s own, with tape or some other adhesive, but do you want to risk damaging your piece? Framing is a way to protect the photo.
For rolled prints, you can use a frame that comes with a mat to create a border around your piece. If you choose a frame with a mat, be cognizant of the frame window (often referred to as the “artwork size”) - i.e. the amount of space in the frame for the photo. For example, you can frame an 8x10 rolled print in a 11x14 frame, with an 8x10 window. The mat will occupy the remaining space. Please note that in the guide below only shows frames with mats for 8x10 prints, but other merchants may offer frames with mats for larger prints.

Framing Mounted Prints
Mounted prints, liked rolled prints, are printed on archival-quality paper, but are matted with bevel-cut white mat, and mounted on acid-free foamcore. What distinguishes mounted prints from rolled prints is that mounted prints can be hung on their own. If you’re interested in hanging your mounted piece without a frame, I’ve had success using double-sided adhesive (like velcro strips). You could also use hinge mounts, specifically made for the foam-core backing.
Frames with mats are not necessary with mounted prints, since they already come with a mat, providing a border for your print. For mounted prints, the frame window should be the size of the entire piece, not just the photo. For example, the final size of a mounted 8x10 print is 11x14 - so you would need an 11x14 frame.
